According to the Insight Temperament System, people who share the Green temperament appreciate innovation and inventiveness.
When we talk about innovation we’re talking about a new way of doing something. It may refer to incremental, radical, and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations. A distinction is typically made between invention, an idea made manifest, and innovation, ideas applied successfully. Greens do both tasks equally well.
The status quo isn’t good enough for Greens. Just as nature refines and improves over generations, allowing that which is better to reproduce faster than that which is merely good, so Greens tinker and twiddle until they design something better. Sometimes the improvement is incremental, with little refinements based on ever more careful observation and ever more refined adjustments.
Other times, usually the best times, whole new sciences evolve, new panoramas of knowledge unfold, and new fields of inquiry emerge. To a Green, this is the same sensation as feeling the wind rush through one’s hair in the pilot seat with Orville Wright over the beach at Kitty Hawk. New ideas! Going where no mind has gone before!
Throughout history, ingenious people have imagined and then created new things to make their lives better, easier, and more enjoyable. From the wheel to penicillin to the computer, inventions continue to change the way we live. According to a panel of scientists from the British Science Association, below is a list of the top 10 inventions that have changed the world.
- GPS technology
- The Sony Walkman
- The bar code
- TV dinners
- PlayStation
- Social networking
- Text messages
- Electronic money
