Choose the airport that you can travel from. Sometimes smaller airports such as East Midlands and Bristol can offer better and cheaper deals. Also check the airlines. Do you need to fly direct? Often taking a longer route is cheaper although tiring. And check out the times of the flight. Some routes are cheaper than others at unsociable hours. There are numerous sites online that can offer cheap flights and most of them have information on hundreds of airlines that they have access to. Check them out constantly if you are looking to fly at a moment’s notice. Many cheap deals are snapped up as soon as they go online. Sign up to airline’s newsletters as they can offer deals before they go public.

Higher fuel prices and lower demand have bumped up prices for the majority of big airlines and the smaller ones are struggling. If you do want a good deal, always take out insurance to avoid being stranded abroad and having to pay on top for a different flight home. When holiday comes, we automatically think about traveling. It is only natural. After so many working hours, days and months, we all need to escape and relax our mind. Get away from all the routine is a proven medication to recharge our body, mind, and spirit. Even meditation is actually some sort of traveling with our mind. No wonder a holiday trip becomes a need in our modern society. Not only as a getaway, but also as a rewards to our self or others who had been working hard.

Airlines had given us increasing options in destinations and holiday package. As a customer, we should get the benefit when providers were competing. The more competitive they are, the better service and option we will get. However, do not forget we have to be a smart customer and willing to spend some time before making any decision. Be aware with offers that seems to good to be true. Also, do not be too skeptical. We need to be objective and level headed when reading or comparing airlines and travel services.

Some things to consider are the timing. Know your schedule and make plans. Give yourself time to do this first step. Price usually becomes the first priority. When we know our budget is $ 1000.00, we will automatically pick something below that budget as our primary choice. Regardless how much is your budget; there will be many options to choose from. A 3 nights flight and hotel package from the leading online travel agent’s site started from $ 199.00. This is the point when we have to do our comparison. What you pay is what you get,

Be sure you know what you want to do for your holiday. Do you want to be lazy or you want to go for some adventure? If you just want to relax, pick an accommodation that will provide you with comfort. A resort with all-inclusive services might be the best options for you. If you plan to explore than you may not need as much comfort since you are going to spend most of your time out side the hotel room anyway. If exploring is your plan than choose the package that gives you more places to go with the money you spend. Some package includes a five star hotel accommodation, some only give you a two, or three stars accommodation, but it came with bus or tour trip included.

Online travel agents mostly give us better price because they have less expense than traditional walk-in travel agent. Try to deal with reputable online travel sites. Make sure they use proper secure system when dealing with credit card. You do not want to save money but end up giving away your credit card number to wrong people.

When you buy an airline ticket, be sure to check the flight route. A 3 hours trip can be 11 hours trips with two stop over! You should never confirm any flight without knowing their route. The choice is up to you. If you are flexible with time, you can save a lot of money by buying a longer trip with lots of stop over. You may even enjoy visiting a new place during the stop over. Even though you never stepped out of the airport, you can say you have been there! If time is your priority or you simply hate flying, then pick a direct or at least one stop flight only.

Another things to compare are the service fee, taxes, and other hidden fee that may come in the final invoice. Check if their price includes airport tax. Make sure that you don’t need a printed ticket and can do the check in with electronic ticket as well, since some longer destination will require a printed ticket. Finally, yet importantly make sure you have all the traveling documents needed, as some country do required a visa. This information might not be provided in the online airlines or travel agent.

It is winter time, the snow is falling, bitter cold to the point where it hurts, you know what I am describing. This is especially true for those of us who live in a climate where you get the bitter BITTER cold. This past winter we decided to take a cruise to the Southern Caribbean and our starting point was Puerto Rico.

The thought of the white sandy beaches, crystal clear blue caribbean waters and of course the warm sun, made it a no brainer to take the trip.

If you are looking for a nice warm destination to go to this winter, or any winter for that matter, I would highly recommend Puerto Rico.

It was early January and the temperature at around 2:00 in the afternoon was in the high 80s when we landed in San Juan. That already was a plus. We flew in a day early to get settled in, tour Old San Juan and take in the sights there until the following day when we would actually set sail on a cruise to Aruba, St. Maarten, Curacao and St. Thomas.

In Puerto Rico, we stayed at a Marriott which was very nice. The people were extremely friendly and the accommodations were great. Never had any troubles getting a taxi, although at $15 per person for a trip, it was kind of expensive.

Old San Juan is wonderful city, especially the parts we were at. We walked the normal touristy areas, ate at the Hard Rock cafe, and took tons of pictures when we saw the fort. The view from some of the overlooks at the fort were incredible.

Although we were only in Puerto Rico one day, I can see that it would be a great place to spend a few days or even an entire week. They have casinos, great night life and so much more to offer in tours and excursions.

As night time fell upon us we went upstairs to our hotel room and were fortunate enough to have a balcony that overlooked the ocean. You could see the cruise ships out on the horizon all lit up as they set sail for wherever they were going. It was a great view, and one I will not likely forget anytime soon.

Tired? Ready for a vacation? Lack of funds holding you back? Well, I would like to share a little secret with you. You can have a St. Augustine, Florida vacation without having to spend a bundle.

Eating will have to be in the budget, as well as lodging, but after those two major expenses you won’t have to spend much else to enjoy our historic city.

1. Trains or Trolleys

My very first recommendation is to purchase tickets for either the Old Town (green) Trolleys or Ripley’s Sightseeing (red) Trains. Now you might think this doesn’t fit within our frugal vacation plans, but let me finish telling you the good news. The tickets are good for three days and either company will send a shuttle to wherever you are staying, pick you up and deliver you back after your day of sightseeing. You’ll be treated to a one hour narrated tour of the city by licensed guides and then you can start stepping off and back on again at over 20 stops throughout the city; a bargain, right? Just think of all the gas money you’ll save.

2. Mission Nombre de Dios (free)

Look up from most any part of St. Augustine and will see the 200′ stainless steel cross rising up from the grounds of the Mission Nombre de Dios. This historic area was the site where Pedro Menendez landed and claimed the land for Spain in 1565. Shortly after landing, his Chaplin, Father Lopez, held the very first Catholic mass in America. There are many historic buildings throughout the grounds. Enjoy strolling around this beautiful historic site.

3. St. George Street (free)

Up for shopping? Wander down St. George Street, located in the heart of St. Augustine’s historic downtown. This is lovely street is lined with delightful shops to explore. Many old homes line the street some original, some restored and some replicas, all interesting. Oh, I must not forget to mention the Spanish Bakery. Stop in for a unique treat.

4. Saint Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine (free)

Midway down St. George Street, on the east side, is the Saint Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine. You won’t want to miss this. It is so beautiful…. the Byzantine style frescoes are exquisite. The Shrine is dedicated to the first colony of Greek people who came to America in 1768.

5. San Sebastian Winery (free)

You may be surprised to learn that there are wineries in Florida, I know I was. A very special grape, the muscadine, is grown in our state and makes a delicious wine. San Sebastian Winery farms several hundred acres of grapes to assure a plentiful harvest for their award-winning wines. Samples and tours are available daily.

So you see, there are fun and interesting things to do in St. Augustine, Florida that won’t break the budget. Make your plans to visit the nation’s oldest city; I know you will have a wonderful time.

There’s nothing quite like a great holiday when we’re looking to relax. Unfortunately, the process of booking a holiday is often not as relaxing. In this article we take a look at how you could get a cheaper holiday this year.

In order to see why the booking process is not quite as good as it could be, we need to examine the way in which many of us approach this scenario. So how do we go about choosing a holiday?

For many of us this was once relatively simple, since we were often actually restricted in terms of the number of options that were open to us. It usually meant making use of a high street travel agent. In the days before the internet appeared, this was the only option for many of us.

With the rise of the internet, we were told that there were some real bargains to be found online. But where are these bargains exactly? The reality is that the supposedly lower prices are often extremely hard to find.

This has result in thousands of consumers looking upon the internet as providing a research tool, rather than a means of booking a holiday. It’s easy to see why this situation has formed, but what we can we do if we want to secure a better online deal?

The key is really to find a selection of online travel companies that you are happy dealing with. This should mean that they have a good reputation and that they also offer bargains. If you can identify such companies then you’ll be able to book with confidence when you do see a lower price.

A number of online travel firms have really hit the mainstream - the likes of Expedia and Ebookers are good examples of this.

How about smaller alternatives? Companies like Alpha Rooms also offer some really good deals. They’re worth checking out if you’re looking for cheaper prices - you can select whether you want to book your flights at the same time.

By looking for independent travel experts online, you could ensure a much cheaper holiday this year.

Read more about holidays and Alpha Rooms offers online, as discussed by Keith Barrett. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.

Planning to go for vacations and looking for cheap international plane tickets. Well, the best money-saving tip is to always check several travel websites when shopping for inexpensive flights. You never know who can offer you cheap flights. Often checking for cheap airfares one normally comes across price variations ranging from say $200 to $1500and that is mind-boggling. At times same travel websites give you the highest price on a airline tickets and at other time you may find much lower prices on the same very website for the same destinations and same date of travels. There can be various reasons and we all know every single minute the seat is being sold out somewhere.

At times trying different airports in the same city or neighboring city airport may get you surprisingly low airfares. For example, flights departing from JFK airport in New York may cost higher than leaving from LaGuardia Airport or for that matter Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey. Buying cheap international plane tickets are not easy as it sounds and with lot of patience and time one surely can buy cheap ticket that fits the budget.

Try different times of the day departure. Rush hours are generally expensive than non-rush hours. Plus getting a nonstop flight verses flights with stopovers can make a difference. The difference of a day or two can also save you a lot of money. There is little logic to airfare pricing, so don’t try too hard to figure it out like a rocket scientist. Just be aware that if you leave on Friday instead of Wednesday (or vice-versa), you may save few hundred dollars.

Whenever the search criteria allow you more choices, take the ones that are the least restrictive for the airlines and suit you best. Also, there can be a dramatic difference if your trip is over thirty days. You may want to cut it short from 32 days to 30 to save few hundreds dollars on your airfare. Play with your travel dates and you never know what you might discover at the end for getting cheap international plane tickets.

Rome is one of the most popular city breaks in the world. It’s right up there with Paris, New York and Barcelona. With its popularity a problematic side-effect has appeared, inflated prices. Everything from hotel rooms to pizzas are more expensive in Rome than in similar Italian cities. If you want to enjoy Rome without breaking the bank you need some inside tips.

Don’t do everything

Don’t try to do Rome in 2 days. There’s so much to see, but do you really want to spend all your holiday standing in long lines and paying hefty entrance fees? Select a few things you absolutely want to see and stick with it. You’ll enjoy it more and pay less.

Budget drinking in Rome

If you want cheap drinks in Rome you are best advised to walk at least 500 metres away from any tourist attractions. Restaurants and bars who are lucky to be located nearby big attractions always make you pay through the nose for your drinks.

Where to eat cheap?

If you really want a cheap meal you should look no further than the many pizza joints who serve up slices of pizzas for a few euros. Pick your pizza, pay and consume it while you go. If you prefer to sit down to have your meal you must be prepared to pay at least 10 euros for a lunch with drinks.

Inexpensive sleep

Rome has a reputation of being very expensive when it comes to accommodation. In the summer months the prices go to the roof for hotel accommodation. Travel to Rome in the winter (November - March) for slightly more managable hotel costs, or select one of the many hostels which offers beds in dorms for around EUR20 for the night.

Ken Sand writes for DirtCheapRome.com It’s the preferred Rome travel guide for people with a very limited budget. In the guide you can read about the cheapest restaurants in Rome.
